On Saturday, October 21st, we’ll come together and celebrate the tradition of rivals. Join us for Rivals for a Cause at any participating location for delicious food and cold beer. Can’t stop in? Donate online to show your spirit. On this day as we sport either Green and White or Maize and Blue we’ll celebrate what we are able to accomplish together.

Throughout the month of October, participating restaurants in Michigan will host all sorts of fundraising fun from commemorative pints to charity in a pint. Proceeds from Rivals for a Cause will help support the U-M Rogel Cancer Centers mission of helping to fight cancer through innovation & collaboration.

No matter if you sport Green and White or Maize and Blue on game day, October 21st, we all share the same goal- to fight together for those in need. This year, Rivals for a Cause is benefitting the U-M Rogel Cancer Center. Our goal is to support the U-M Rogel Cancer Center’s mission of helping to fight cancer through innovation & collaboration. Your gift enables the cancer center to direct resources where they are most needed or where opportunities are greatest, from upgrading or replacing a critical piece of medical equipment to providing important resources to researchers & clinicians.

We compete
together…

THIS YEAR’S CAUSE–

The U-M Rogel Cancer Center

The University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center seeks to reduce cancer burden and improve cancer outcomes through research, innovation and transdisciplinary collaboration.

The Rogel Cancer Center is a national leader in prevention, early diagnosis, optimal treatment and survivorship care for those at risk of or affected by cancer.

Their patient care is multidisciplinary, which means treatment plans are developed with input from many experts: pathologists, radiologists, surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists. These team members share their experiences and knowledge of specific cancer to provide the very best options. Due to our extensive research programs, the majority of our patients have access to new forms of treatment, many developed here as a result of clinical trials.

Why rivals

By definition, a rivalry is a competition for the same objective or for superiority in the same field. No matter if you sport Green and White or Maize and Blue on game day, for this particular game day, we all share the same goal– to fight together for those in need.

our mission

Rivals for a Cause takes the time-honored traditions of rivalries and turns them into funds for one local charity. We want to emphasize the outcome of the competition where the charity emerges victoriously no matter who you root for on game day. Rivals for a Cause will compete… Together!

our history

Competition brings out the absolute best in people. Rivals for a Cause started at a University of Michigan vs. Michigan State University football game tailgate. Long-time friends and alumni for both universities wanted to raise money for a former teammates’ son battling brain cancer. Rivals for a Cause was born out of the spirit of “who” could raise more. Rivals for a Cause started on this day and has turned into an annual event with a new cause chosen each year.
